Since the Walnut Street Theatre is the oldest in America, the focus of this rebrand was to emphasize the ideas behind live performance. The brand features a bright red, lavender, and off-white, contrasted by black and a brown tone to simulate the experience of a dark stage coming to life during a performance. These colors are accompanied by staggered type lock-ups inspired by both the dynamism and rigidity that can be seen within the structure of a stage. The use of only black and white imagery reflects the age of theatre and adds a sense of drama and tension to the brand when cropped irregularly. The logo features these elements with the additional abstraction of a performer to bring that human factor into the mark.
